Shredder blade lubrication

Shredder blade lubrication
Paper shredders need regular lubrication to prevent jamming and overheating, but using the wrong oil can create fire hazards or contaminate recycled paper. Vegetable-based oils are preferred because they don't leave petroleum residues that could ignite from friction heat. Some shredder manufacturers recommend running a sheet of wax paper through the machine as a simple lubrication method. Interestingly, shredding glossy junk mail occasionally can provide natural lubrication from the paper coatings.
