Guitar string lubrication

Guitar string lubrication
Guitarists' finger oils actually lubricate strings during play, but these oils are acidic and cause corrosion over time. Professional musicians often use specialized string lubricants made from light mineral oils or synthetic esters that reduce friction without attracting dirt. A properly lubricated guitar string can last twice as long and maintain its bright tone. Some players avoid lubricants entirely, preferring the natural "grip" of uncoated strings for better control.
