Engine detergent additives

Engine detergent additives
Before the 1930s, engine oils had no cleaning agents and engines would clog with sludge after just a few thousand miles. The addition of detergent additives revolutionized car maintenance by keeping engine parts clean while they ran. These soap-like molecules grab onto dirt particles and hold them in suspension, preventing buildup. This single innovation extended engine life from around 50,000 miles to well over 200,000 miles in modern vehicles.
